Friday Evening – Scott Phister, Riverton Wyoming Stake President
President Phister was raised in Deaver, Wy. He is not from the BIG city. Some of his other callings include serving as a missionary in the Washington Seattle Mission and as a Bishop from 1997-2001
While attending BYU for his undergraduate degree he met Amy Wright on the way to the 1984 Holiday Bowl in San Diego. Doing things correctly, after marrying in the temple, they proceeded to have 4 daughters and 1 son.
The 3 oldest daughters are married themselves and daughter #4, Annie, enters the MTC on 7/16/14 to serve in the Argentina Mission. She will begin by consoling the Argentines over their loss in the World Cup while converting them to Christ.
After completing an undergraduate degree at BYU, Scott continued with a Master Degree in Physical Therapy from Samuel Merritt University.
Scott is a Physical Therapist and chose this profession after requiring its services as a High School football and basketball player. The PT services he received in his youth must have worked because his is a 5 handicap golfer today. He owns Freemont Therapy Group. www.fremonttherapygroup.com.
President Phister will be speaking on “Faith in Christ with pure intent”
Saturday Morning – President Daniel Bingham, Helena Montana Stake President
President Daniel J. Bingham was called to be the President of Helena Montana Stake in October of 2011. Previous to this he held callings such as High Councilor, Bishopric member, Ward Mission Leader, and many other leadership and teaching positons in the Church. At the age of nineteen he served a full-time mission in Melbourne Australia.
Dr. Bingham received his Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin in Educational Administration and Leadership, concentrating on institutional governance in community college systems; this was preceded by an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and a B.S. in Applied Science with a focus on industrial technology.
President Bingham has spent the last 25 years in higher education instruction and leadership at a variety of institutions throughout the southwest. And, since 2005, has been the Dean/CEO of Helena College University of Montana.
He and his amazing and most wonderful wife, Donna, have four children, one daughter in-law, two sons-in-law, and five grandchildren.
Saturday Evening – Roland Simmons, Previous Mayor of Cowley, Wyoming
Roland is the Father of 6 children (5 sons and 1 daughter). He was a single father for 18 years. Each of his children are, according to Roland, “thankfully married in the temple which offers peace in my life.” Roland married the Lovely Brenda, 4.5 years ago, she has 5 grown children also. This makes for wonderfully crowded family gatherings!
His BYU education includes a Masters of Art in Design with a minor in The Philosophy of Aesthetics. His Graduate Thesis – “The Feasibility of using Single Faced Corrugated Paper in the Design and Construction of Contemporary Lighting” – Not toooooo specific! Guess what he does for a living rolandsimmons.com (check it out – way cool)
Roland has enjoyed an active life with many callings in the Church, like the easy one of Bishop, and Mayor of Cowley, which is the BIG City compared to Deaver. He likes to Swim, ride Bicycles and Motorcycles. If he added running he could be a triathlete – apparently he endures running because he is competing in the Big Horn Canyon Triathlon July 19th.
Roland will be speaking on “A Life of Light”
